Artist's Statement

Greetings, my name is Vadim and I am a Pacifica-based photographer. The medium of photography has always held a special fascination for me. Its ability to convey emotion and atmosphere in a way that is both immediate and enduring never ceases to amaze me. My love affair with photography began at a young age and has only continued to evolve and grow as I have.

As a photographer, I consider myself a generalist, constantly remaining curious, embracing diverse challenges, and experimenting with various creative lenses. My true passion, however, lies in capturing the fluid, dynamic landscapes of the coast. I also have a keen interest in photo storytelling and environmental portraits.

I am a strong believer in the power of creativity and deeply appreciate progressive works that push the boundaries of photography beyond traditional two-dimensional imaging. In particular, I have a fondness for classic, painterly, black-and-white compositions that possess a film-like quality.

With the advent of Artificial Intelligence, I am thrilled about its potential impact on the field of visual arts, similarly to how photography once challenged traditional art forms. I am excited to explore the emerging Generative AI and see if and how, blended with a live human touch, it can help expand the spectrum of the artists’ and viewers’ experience. In my strong opinion, Artificial Intelligence has already passed the inflection point and has the potential to open up new avenues for creative expression and enable us to create images of a new kind.

However, while I look forward to the future, I remain grounded in the present, constantly in awe of the beauty of our coast and curious about people around me. Photography is an essential part of my life, it's something I cannot live without. I am driven to capture moments, emotions, and stories through the lens of my camera, as it is an integral part of my identity.
